dSave the date! May 20, 2017 will be the date of the Spring Gathering hosted by Modern Missouri Pioneers. This is our third event and has the potential of the being the best yet! We have a varied slate of demonstrations and presentations planned which include such topics as raising meal worms, knife making, blacksmithing, spinning/fibers, outdoor water bath canning, rope making, growing mushroom logs, raising pigs for food and profit, outdoor oven cooking, bee keeping, DIY soap and cleaners, planting in a deep mulch garden outdoor oven baking and more! While plans are still being finalized, and topics are still being selected, this Gathering looks like it will have some of the most unique and asked for topics to date.
Over the next couple of weeks, I will be putting together some posts to introduce the presenters and demonstrators and give an overview of the topics they will share. For those of you not familiar with our Homestead Gatherings, these events are designed as a time to get together, share information and ideas and learn from one another about basic homesteading/diy activities to speciality programs. The event is family oriented so bring the kids! Many times we have 3 or even 4 generations attend together. There is no charge for attending. All our presenters volunteer their time to come share and we offer our farm free of charge as a location to do so.
There will be some activities going on throughout the day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with special presentations given at specific times. That schedule will be announced as soon as all plans are finalized. Let me share a few pictures from the last Gatherings to give you and idea of the types of activities you can expect.
